This course forms one of the 3 modules required to obtain the MCA Small Vessel Second Engineer qualification. It is 5 days with a written exam at the end. The following topics will be covered: legislation, watch keeping, maintenance, pollution, bunkering, sewage systems, air conditioning, freshwater makers, stabilizers, fire fighting and ship construction.
The course is intensive and candidates are advised to be well prepared for the exam by obtaining the course notes early and studying them thoroughly.
